Frosty guardian angels here!COFFEE WITH WARREN, with Warren Harbeck |
One of our longtime readers was about to get into his car recently, and discovered he had some real cool companions travelling with him — his guardian angels! David Forbes, former Cochrane resident now living in Medicine Hat, was the inspiration for naming my series of columns “Coffee with Warren” all those nearly 1,200 issues ago. Well, he’s certainly given me the inspiration for this week’s column. I’ll let David explain: MOST OF THE TIME we focus on clearing the iced windows of our vehicles. Get one window done, then on to the next. On this particular frosty morning I noticed the unique pattern on the painted panel between the doors that looked like angel wings. And then the comforting words of the song Angels Among Us by country group Alabama just popped into my mind: "When life held troubled times and had me down on my knees / There's always been someone to come along and comfort me. / A kind word from a stranger to lend a helping hand. / A phone call from a friend just to say I understand. / But ain't it kind of funny at the dark end of the road / That someone lights the way with just a single ray of hope?" "Oh, I believe there are angels among us / Sent down to us from somewhere up above. / They come to you and me in our darkest hours / To show us how to live, to teach us how to give / To guide us with the light of love." It's one of those songs that can touch a heart. I know some people seem to have more troubles than others, and I see them struggle so much. I’m ever so grateful for the “angels” who have been there for me in times of need, and will try to find a way to let them know that I understand. If we feel inspired to go visit or phone someone, or to do something for someone, don't let that moment pass by. It could make all the difference. —David Forbes MAKING ALL THE DIFFERENCE? There’s this frost photo Cochrane coffee companion Krysta Roo is sharing with us. Last week she awoke to a frosty forest on a plank in her deck. Ah, such cool artistry — real cool! Thank you, David and Krysta.
